I heard about this place for about 5 years. Always good things. Today i was ready to buy a bow so i drove there. It was an awesome experience from when i walked in, picking a bow, test shooting it, deciding i wanted it and then going on the range to make all the adjustments for me. I especially love the one on one instruction i got on how to shoot my 2020 P.S.E. Stringer Pro i was buying. My final shot was at 60 feet in the bulls eye. That was a good time to stop for the day. You get a free month at the range with purchase of bow so i will practice more tomorrow.
These guys are the best in the business. I have been coming here for years for various equipment (arrows, new strings, etc) and they have always treated me as if I was buying the most expensive bow in the place. So of course I bought my latest Hoyt from them. They made sure that the bow was optimally configured for me and that it was shooting precisely before I left. Hans is always a wealth of archery knowledge.
I was looking for a new archery shop as that last one I used closed. I went in
For a string and wanted a new set of limbs on my 10 year old Mathews Z7.
Hans greeted me and was friendly and very helpful. He had the bow restrung and new limbs ordered and installed within two weeks.
The bow shoots great and his prices were spot on.
I went In on a separate occasion and purchased a new bow for my son. Adrienne Helped us and she was very patient and helpful in assisting him with his first Bow purchase.
I really like that they also promote the sport and give back to the community by hosting events.
A big thank you to Hans and Adrienne Olufs for being there and promoting archery the way you do.
This place is awesome. I picked up my very first compound bow here in February '19. Hans handed me a Mathews Vertix to try out. I took a shot and looked at the bow in awe of how good it felt. I looked at Hans and he smirked and nocked another arrow for me. Hans is very knowledgeable and loves what he does and it shows. Hans is usually super busy when he's on the floor so there is a wait if you want help from him specifically, although I've only been there on Saturday's so I don't know how busy it is during the week. He takes his time with each customer, and never rushes to move on to the next customer. I'm a total newbie to archery and he never makes me feel dumb about any questions I have for him. Adrienne is also great about greeting customers, directing you to specific products and knowing who is next in line to meet with Hans. The line gets long. Especially on Saturdays. Don't go to any other shop if you are in the area. Best place in the county and probably beyond as well.
The most helpful and knowledgeable shop i have been too. I have purchased multiple bows from Hans and would recommend the shop to anyone looking to get into archery. From traditional to compound they have it all.
This is one top notch archery shop. Very knowledgeable staff. Hans is a master at putting together a killer archery setup, and Pete is a hell of a coach on the range. Very pleased with what I got from them! Thanks again guys!
Great Archery Shop!
I first went to West Coast Archery about a year ago to buy my step-son his first bow. At that time, the only thing I knew about archery was that you pull on a string and the arrow goes flying. That and you never buy an off the shelf bow because a bow has to be sized to you.
Hans was extremely helpful and explained everything at my level. He got my step-son set up with his first bow and got it set up perfectly. I returned with a new bow I bought from a friend, which he corrected and matched to my draw length.
When my 12 yo son wanted to start archery, they set him up with lessons in their indoor range. The archery instructor was very helpful, courteous, and friendly as she worked with my son. He will be getting his first bow from here for Christmas.
Overall, this archery shop is by far the best place I have been to. All of the staff treat you like you're family (better than some of my family). They are very knowledgeable, honest, and do not push any products you don't need.
I strongly recommend beginners and experts drop in to check this place out. With high Yelp reviews from so many, you know they are doing it right!
Took my son for an afternoon lesson, as he has asked me for a long time to learn to shoot. I decided to take one as well. We had an absolute blast! Instructor was patient and kind and really one his stuff. Plus he was great with my kid. Great way to be introduced to hopefully a lifelong father/son activity. Will be using the shop for itself for future gear needs as we progress. The shop appeared clean, staff was attentive without being pushy. I have a good friend in the Archery business and I think I be sending him some swag from them for the holidays. Look forward to my next trip.
What a fantastic store! Went in with my son to get a new bow adjusted and was shocked by the outstanding service. These people went out of their way to help us and I was more than grateful for their generosity.
Top five things you'll care to know:
1) Parking is easy and available.
2) Lanes are great and the instructors and shop people are so nice...and funny but never mean.
3) They helped me pick out my first ever archery set up. Recurve! woot!
4) I think I got an upgraded string but my wife didn't...I dunno why they didn't ask her if she wanted one. Maybe cause they were like, "That lady is way better than that guy...he needs an upgraded string." Either way, I think it made my wife feel a little bad.
5) They helped me pick out arrows but I didn't get a choice...now I realized they gave me the Bentley of arrows. They are so good that even I can tell the difference between the crappy practice ones I ordered online. This is both a plus and a minus...wish I could have started with something a little more middle of the road. Now my super arrows are the only ones I want to shoot...haha
Undoubtedly the best bow shop around . Top notch staff and products , real bow hunters who know what they are talking about . I recommend this shop to all my friends and new bow hunters and they always thank me .
Hans is the man! Extremely helpful and does not settle for anything less than perfect. He couldn't initially figure out a problem on my bow. He kept it and put some serious thought into the issue and I ended up having bent axles ("new" eBay bow which I will never do again). Shoots lasers now. Then I had him check my wife's bow out and dialed that in after a shop said they couldn't lower draw weight anymore. Now she shoots it without fatigue. Clean shop with great top of the line products. Only Crispi retailer around Bay Area.
This place is so unique. Plenty of parking in the back. The shop is located in the back behind the nursery.
The range consists of 5 lanes and Pete is such a delight to have as an instructor. He's so passionate for the sport and really helped us beginners get a feel for how to properly hold, aim, and shoot the bow and arrow. Got me feeling confident like Jennifer Lawrence in the hunger games by the end.
$20 for gear rental and quality time on the range. What a deal! We were lucky to come during a down time on a weekday and had the whole place to ourselves, but I could imagine a busy day being tight and cramped, I believe they have some sort of appointment system for the lanes. The service here is top notch and I don't know much about archery but I could tell this is the place to go!
This was hands down one of the best toy buying experiences I have ever had. I had been seriously considering buying a bow for a while now, saved my pennies and finally headed out to Petaluma. I had read plenty of these prior yelp reviews and knew that Hans would be worth my 2.5 hr drive. There was no disappointment. Hans and I believe his father maybe? Helped me out throughout the entire experience. Obviously gave me the correct draw length and proper set up on my first bow rig. They took time to thoroughly answer my questions as well as let me try out several bows. I left West Coast with a Matthews and couldn't be happier. I was in such a good mood I didn't even mind the 3 hr drive back home in traffic. Hans and his Pop were incredibly kind and very easy to talk to. Whatever level of Archery you are at... this is the place..
Hate yelp but I had to leave these guys 5 stars but i can tell it dont even matter since everyone leaves them 5 stars anyway. Bought two pse nighthawk recurve bows. Not sure who the guy was might be hans but not only did he set me up perfectly he answered all my questions didnt get annoyed that i was a rookie. It was one of the better customer experiences ive had in my life buying stuff. Gave me a mini lesson, set the bow up for me answered all my questions was super cool. Bows are gorgeous and without issue. Slings arrows so fast and true makes me wanna jump and holler and marvel at human ingenuity.
I straight up feel like a Comanche warrior hunting my prey but really im just a humble target shooter tired of paying money for ammo and gun ranges among other problems ive had lately with firearms. But with these nighthawks i could probably be a Comanche warrior now
I will not be going to any other archery shops no need . Only way i go somewhere else is if they are out of stock or do not carry something but i would always start with west coast archery before going anywhere else
Great service, friendly helpful atmosphere, and very talented staff!
About a year ago I went to the other local shop in Santa Rosa and bought two Hoyt bows only because west coast wasn't a dealer quite yet.
What a mistake!! All they did was take the bows out of the box. I couldn't find out why my aim was so bad! I could not get a good grouping! Same with my Girlfriend who I got the other bow for.
Hans At West Coast Archery took the time to fix the timing, tune the bow and adjusted them to us. My draw length was fine, but I know what mine is supposed to be. My Girlfriends bow was set up by the other shop, about 2 inches too long for her. (facepalm)
Now, we're getting great groups like we should have been all along! I may have been hunting and shooting bows for 20 plus years, but I've never been good at the fine tuning, thanks to Hans and West Coast Archery I don't have to!
BTW: They also have another store in Dixon, the staff there is really friendly also! Both locations have nice, well lit and clean indoor ranges.
Very helpful, gave my daughter some tips and they were very pleasant. This is why shopping local is better!! Thanks we will be back.
Amazing Service! Just getting into the sport, and they took the time to walk me through all options. I can't imagine going anywhere else when I'm ready to buy.
Thanks for taking all the time with a newbie!
It was my boyfriend's birthday and so I wanted to surprise him with archery classes. We got a sweet deal for group lessons ($25.00 per person w/ rental) and our trainer was pretty bad-ass. He was a senior who practiced archery for many, many years and enjoyed teaching the class. Despite how he was very attentive and detail-oriented, he gave us a ton of pointers to help improve our target aim. At the end of the night, my boyfriend and I had a wonderful time together and am planning on coming back!
West Coast Archery's extensive selection of bows and accessories is only outdone by their phenomenal customer service. I'm consistently impressed by how knowledgeable they are, how much attention to detail they exhibit, and how customer-centric their demeanor is. I wholeheartedly give my recommendation to anyone looking for a good archery shop to West Coast Archery!
Excellent lessons for kids! Friendly and inclusive atmosphere! My son is hooked!
Hans is super helpful, prices are competitive and the selection is great. I have bought a few bows, a bunch of arrows and a fair number of accessories here. My first bow and arrow combo, recommended as a set, could have been a bit better matched, but they got me into it, and are still working ok. As I've started tuning my own rig, they have been happy to sell me the small stuff I need. Thanks!
Folks here are attentive and genuine. The shop itself is very clean and well organized.
Great people great atmosphere everything ya can need there. They got me all set up with my bow changed my forum and helped me improve. They deff know what there talking about will be buying my new bow there
Great place to come for all of your archery needs
My boys loved their lesson and can't wait to go back!!
I have never been disappointed going here. The quality of service is top notch and I always leave feeling like any questions I had were answered. I would highly recommend anyone that needs anything archery related go here.
Very knowledgeable staff and a large stock of just about any bow brand you would want. Love the 20yd range for sighting in bow and fine tuning. Have no problem traveling from Windsor to do business.
Were first times and they were patient, friendly and knowledgeable.
Great selection, helpful and knowledgeable staff. I benefitted greatly from my first lesson, and will be returning for more!
Very nice staff, great range, great variety of equipment.
A friend and I went into this shop a few weeks ago to purchase our first bows. This shop was awesome. It's big with a lot of different brands and merchandise. Everything was organized and easy to look through. When choosing our bows he answered all of our questions and sounded really Knowledgeable. He didn't try to push any particular bow on us, he just wanted us to pick the most comfortable bow. We shot few different bows but walked out with a Hoyt and a Mathews. They also have an indoor range that fits 10 shooters. I haven't seen a lot of ranges but this one seemed really nice. I went back yesterday for him to increase the weight a little and he was just as helpful as the first day. Asked me questions about the bow and made a few tweaks. Overall great shop, I won't be going anywhere else.
Very friendly helpful staff. They are fair honest, and knowledgeable.
My son and his friend Loved their archery lessons, and the owner was very accommodating.
I had a great experience at this shop, first time coming and it won't be my last. I'm a beginner and brought my bow to another shop to have a peep sight and d loop installed and it was a mess. The original install from the other shop was totally wrong.
I took my bow in at about 515pm and he fixed it properly, fixed some other minor issues and only charged me $10 for the work. I even got to try it out and purchased some new arrows that were much better than what I had.
shop looks really good with the new makeover, Owner is super knowledgeable and will help you get all set up and ready to go. Not trying to rip anyone off, prices are really good.
Shopped around for a while and with their help was able to get exactly what I wanted. The customer service and care is amazing here, I strongly recommend anyone from beginners to experts to check this place out.
The customer service is outstanding. Hans was very accommodating and extremely knowledgable on helping me pick the correct compound bows for me and my son. I highly recommend doing business with West Coast Archery Shop.
Hans is the best! Went in not knowing if I wanted a Hoyt or Mathews, so he just strung them up and let me shoot both. He talked to me for an hour or so and gave me some great info. I ended up buying a friends bow who was in need of money, but Hans offered me a tremendous deal on the bows that he had (less than I could find anywhere else).
I found his shop after a terrible experience at Turra's in Santa Rosa. Go to Hans, you will not be disappointed.
Had a living social deal for a 1-hour archery lesson that I gave as a family Christmas gift last year. Expiration date was coming up fast, so we booked an appointment. Ease and friendlieness of booking was 5 stars. My group of 4 shared space with another group of 3. We were one person over the number of lanes, but we made it work by trading off.
I'd never held a bow and arrow before in my life, but had always wanted to try. It was as fun as I'd hoped it would be, and I did really well right out of the gate. My daughter was a natural as well. I'm seriously considering lessons for the 2 of us. It isn't the most convenient place since it's about 25 minutes from home, but I'll give it a good look to see how we can make it work. I could see it becoming a serious hobby.
The lesson, while only an hour, was informative, and our instructor (i forgot her name) was pretty quiet on the whole, but you could tell she really knows her stuff.
Thanks for a great experience!
Great classes, amazing staff... graft place to start a new hobby
Got my bow serviced here. Knowledgeable and experienced professional. Hans is a Nice guy too. Bought a new release and was expecting to just have it installed. in addition to that, he fixed a couple of items and tuned the whole thing. Now I know what it's like to have my bow set up correctly! Worth the drive to know that it is done right! Part and Labor was reasonable and wouldn't take my bow anywhere else in the future. Thanks again!
Unbeatable customer service, very knowledgeable and competitive pricing. Hans was very informative in helping me pick out which bow would work best for me without any pressure to spend more than I was comfortable with. The compound bow selection was great and they had the bow and accessories I wanted in stock, so after Hans got it set up I was able shoot and start dialing it in right away!
I'm fairly new to archery so I had lots of questions, and I felt that they were happy to answer any question I had and were truly interested in helping me learn. I am now a customer for life and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this shop to anybody, seasoned pro or a new archer.
I had a wonderful experience at West Coast Archery. The customer service I received was top notch and reminded me of the importance of shopping local. I got a full explanation of the different bow choices and walked out with the perfect bow, accessories and even a short lesson on how to shoot it! Hans was extraordinarily helpful and patiently worked with me until my new bow was set up and sighted in perfectly. I recommend this shop to anyone from a total beginner to a seasoned pro.
Nice shop, great service, very friendly. They take good care of their customers.
Thy best shop and staff !!!
This shop is clean, organized, offers something for everybody including my young child. Hans really knows what he's doing too!
This is by far the best archer establishment I have ever been too! Customer service is excellent and staff is knowledgeable and so helpful! There selection and stock of bows, arrows, and accessories is mind blowing and the prices are good! If you ever need help or a bow problem I would drive 5 hours to go to this place! You won't be disappointed
These guys rock! I made the mistake of going to another archery shop a little north who was slow, inconsiderate, and apparently careless in the way they work on bows. Even after getting my bow back, it wasn't right. the peep was twisting, my sight was way off (had to be adjusted to the very bottom of the bracket and barely held), and the string was twisted.
I stumbled upon their shop as they were closing. They didn't push me out of their shop, but started to do the work right there. I was shocked. Hans saw the problem just by looking at my setup. There wasn't any pressure to buy anything, and definitely no pressure to come back.
They were very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I'm spending my money with these guys!
An absolute pleasure going to this shop. The individuals working there were professional, knowledgable, and kind. The shop also had an impressive range of bows, and equipment. I from now on will be going here for all of my archery needs.
This place is sweet great teachers and alot to learn the owner is awesome he is there to answer any question somebody has they have great equipment an awesome place to go and learn with the family how to shoot a bow and arrow lot of family fun thanks West Coast archery
Thumbs up review for West Coast Archery. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. He will work with you to make sure you get what you want. The store has a wide range of items in stock - arrows, releases, broadheads, basically everything you need. They also have a big shooting range, nice looking, big, bright and clean, where you can rent a lane and shoot some arrows. Or you can take lessons. They also do leagues, check the website for the schedule. I've purchased here compound bows for myself and my kids, those models were very new (production had just started), so they didn't have them in stock. They placed orders with the manufacturers and the items arrived quickly. If you live in the Bay Area, this is one of your best options for an archery pro shop. 5/5 stars.
I hit the Bulls Eye, when I walked in here!! I was able to test out a few bows. I asked about 100 questions. There was no pressure to buy anything. I Walked out very happy with my purchase.
Hans is very knowledgeable and helpful. He fitted me with a new compound bow and adjusted it to my draw length and bow weight. I would recommend this pro shop without hesitation!
Awesome Shop. All my friends have purchased bows form West Coast Archery and I am in the process of acquiring a Mathews Halon-X. Hans has been very helpful and has provided a great deal of consulting on what I should be purchasing. Tried a couple of bows and really enjoyed working on getting the correct setup. I am waiting anxiously to get my bow and get it all tuned up. Thanks West Coast Archery !!!
Stopped by the shop today after striking out in SF and Fremont. While the lone worker was quite busy, he made sure that everyone was taken care of, and he was super helpful and patient in letting me test new bows. I couldn't come to a decision on a new bow today, but I did pick up a bunch of arrows and accessories for my dad. Nice setup, great staff, and excellent service!
Awesome archery shop! I drive here all the way from SF, Hans definitely knows his stuff. The shop is geared towards bow hunting, they have a better selection of hunting items than any shop in the area that I know of. They also have an indoor range and seem to welcome you try some of the bows on display before you buy, unlike some other shops that are more interested in renting the range for kids birthday parties. Prices are very fair, and they seem to get it right the first time. The shop is a bit off the main road, but just look for the deer and you know you are there.
Hans and the staff at West Coast Archery are true professionals and live and breathe the sport of archery. My father-in-law, my son, and I have been very impressed with their shop and love shooting in the indoor range on weekends. Family friendly, knowledgeable, and a great selection of bows and archery goods in their shop. Highly recommended!
My husband is avid bow hunter for about 30 years. He knows his equipment and good service. He has been looking to upgrade his bow and had decided on what he wanted but wanted to shoot it first. We called West Coast because their website said they had the Matthews he wanted. He called, they had it so we hopped in the car and drove to Petaluma. He was extremely happy with their selection and service. The guy set him up, had all the gear he wanted and no pressure selling. He was able to shoot and make adjustments. It was fast and easy. The guy knew his equipment and set it up in no time. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Definitely will recommend to his friends.
I have visited West Coast Archery a few different times and each time the staff have been very helpful. I do not know much about archery but each time I have visited all my questions have been answered and the service has been great. During my most recent visit I was gift shopping for someone, I told the staff that I was looking for a YETI cooler but was unsure as to which one. The staff took the time to explain to me the difference and what is the most common. When I decided on which size, I was happy to know they had one in stock. Once purchased they even helped load it in my car. Great people with great products! I will definitely be a returning customer!
I stumbled upon this shop after the local dick's sport which doesn't have a big area for archery.
I was simply amazed by the products it carries in the shop. I bought my first recurve here, and I started using the indoor range almost every day after work when the shop is open.
But the best thing about this place is the owner's customer service. I shoot a lot, the riser develops a crack, and the owner offered to replace the whole bow at no additional cost. He also accommodates me a new pair of string just to "make it right", he said.
I highly recommend you to visit the shop see what he has.
Hans, the owner, is highly knowledgeable. Was having a number of issues after buying my gear at Basspro. He fixed it in no time and has gone out of his way to ensure I'm ready for my first bow hunt. If you live in the area, this is the place to go.
I have to say that the service I received here was unparalleled. Dave went way beyond what I expected and he got me 100% set up with a new bow. I love hunting for deals online but with that comes no service and service is what you get at West Coast Archery Shop. I will be going out of my way to do as much business there as I can even though Petaluma is 1.5 hours away from where I live. Thank you VERY much!!!!
Bought my bow on ebay and had NO idea what I was doing except my brother pointed me to the right bow. Went into the shop and the guys not only checked the bow out to make sure it was in GOOD usable condition, but they adjusted the draw length and check the draw weight for my use. Guess what, they wouldn't let me pay for the service....So, I bought a practice block and I plan on returning to join the range.
Great crew.... Thanks guys !!
You won't be sorry. For you want quality and expertise...great place. Amazing prices. Helpful staff.
So like a moron I accidentally dry fired my bow. I was convinced (after looking through online blogs) I would at the very least need a new string. Brought it back here cause I bought it here, figured being a noob they wouldn't give me too hard a time for the dry firr. Not only was I right, they retuned it. Could have lied and charged me and put a new string on because I would never had known. Instead the checked it over from top to bottom, and told me how lucky I was that all that was wrong was my peep came out. He put it back and refused to charge me.
How do we add six stars to a review? All I can say is wow! So here I go unbiased review... Scouts honor!
So I decided to buy a bow at this place based on a review, and it was the best decision I could have made.
Zac, if read this thank you for your service to our country. I mean that. I counseled armed service men and honored for the work you do.
I bought a Matthews bow here based on feel. Zac allowed me to shoot five bows. Bowtech, Matthews, and Mission. In the end i loved the Matthews Havlon.
I'm going to return to upgrade my sights, quiver, and keep on shooting...
